I haven't been writing in my blog for a long time, I have been busy with rehab and just trying to stay warm.

The foot doctor gave me shots in my feet to help them and it was so so so painful. Dr. Thacker says that I need special shoes or orthopedic shoes because I am so very hard on my feet and medicare or insurance won't cover it. I think one shoe is wider because of my amputation. O well...

My health has ups and downs. It is a fine balance between eating right, exercising and feeling good. I will be seeing my rheumatology on Thursday to evaluate my progress. My physical therapist and I worked hard this week just walking for half an hour. TIRED!

Today had lunch at Claim Jumper with Grandpa Volz and Joey, it was a lot of fun to just relax and enjoy a good meal with them.

Fall is here!!

It seems that in Washington there are three seasons, fall, winter, spring and fall... lol! I've been doing really well and when the weather permits, I get around Target where there are electric carts and I go with oxygen and all my stuff and I'm free.  My mom chases after me hoping I won't break anything or run any body over. I do the electric also at Trader Joes and there's go really fast... 6 mph instead of 4mph... lol.

The therapist, Silver, says my oxygen saturation is getting better when I work out and my skin test is improved by 2 points. Hurrah! Eye therapy is going a little better, I don't hurl after eye therapy which is a plus.  My eyes are beginning to work together.  Because of the strokes, my brain is on planet xyz but because of the eye therapy i'll be on planet earth. It's well worth it so I can read.

Continue praying for me because the prayers are really helping me get better everyday.

Lisa and Mom

Wild Beasties, 3rd Edition is in!

It's August!

I'm excited my Wild Beasties Books are in Stock!!!
My Father in law made a great deal with the printing and due to the economy being lame I am offering them at $12.00 each, originally they were $16.00.  My wild beasties aren't perfect but neither is life.  If you would like a book, they are $2.00 s/h.

I am trying to stay cool these days but my strength is running low. I was in the lobby of my eye therapist when I stumbled upon a brochure: Acquired Brain Injury and Hidden Visual Problems.  I read it and spoke to my eye therapist and she said that I may have this problem.  But eye therapy will help me, but it's such a struggle. After eye therapy my equal librium goes haywire and I puke.  Pray for me.

Thank you for all  your prayers

My mom-in-law and I are here relaxing on the couch.  I am tired but, in a good way! My mom and I just I went to the Dr., had some lunch, physical therapy and gave some blood.

I will have glasses soon because I need some eye therapy.  I guess I need therapy for everything. LOL

My Doctors think there is evidence showing a new drug may extend my life since the Lung Transplant isn't an option.  Pray for me as I continue the journey of healing and possibly new therapy.

Written by Mom

It's been a long time since I've updated Lisa's situation:
We drove back and forth to Seattle sometimes 2, to 3 doctors a day then to return the following for last three months to the University for testing and blood work. It's been extremely exhausting for Lisa, Joey, and I for the possible lung transplant.  She was denied the transplant for the reasons that they feel she would not be able to survive it. She cried!

Lisa still continues physical therapy once/twice a week and show improvement.  It's hard to not be able to do anything for her when this happens and I feel so helpless even though she just wants me to be there and to pray.

We look forward to our faith in God to carry us through and to heal her since we believe that God is more than able to do this. I know she relies on all your prayers and so do I. She still needs financial support for all the bills are rolling in... Thank you so much!!

GOD... Help

Mom and I went to the University for an MRI and a lung function test today.   I started with the MRI and it was hard for me.  I had to lay down on my back it was difficult to breathe and it was so hard.  Then I had some breakfast and did some shopping.  Then we did the lung function exam (PFT).  My lung test: 22% capacity.  Then we came home and I'm so exhausted! Dr. Edleman will let us know if i qualify for a lung transplant next week after reviewing all the information.

Messsage, Ps 30. I give you all the credit God- you got me of that mess,.. God, my God, I yelled for help and you put me together...

Thank you for supporting me through prayers, purchasing my cards and books and donations.  The books can only be purchased though me or my family because my website is not working.  If you want to donate you can go to the NTAF web, type VOLZ get a tax write off.

Love to all,
Lisa and Mom

April and ER

On Saturday I went to see Reverend Ziga and he annonted me oil, then Sunday I had an adventure yesterday at the UW hospital because my I went because Rheumatology Julia J. Rhiannon, MD, MSW, had noticed that my white blood cell count was a little high. At the ER I met an older lady who was also a believer and we prayed and ate some cucumber rolls. Then I went in to be evaluated for a little while, they took some blood and there was an infection in my chest. So I was put on anti-biotics and sent home. It is such a relief to not have to stay overnight. Now I am home recovering but I could really use your prayer support while I recover.

april, showers and showers

I just had another physical therapy session at UW.  Silver is the name of my therapist, she is tough but funny, so I am pretty pooped today after my session. Then the power went out,  another storm, and boy was Ari scared, I was concerned but Joe had no worries.

The weather makes it difficult for me to do anything, when the wind is blowing and the rain coming down hard it's hard for me to get around. But, I'm like a cat, I still have six lives left.

I'm just waiting for May when I will begin my re-evaluation for a lung transplant to start.  I really need your help, the pressures of getting a lung transplant or just paying the bills can be very difficult for us at times. Any help will do.

Hugs, Lisa

March

I am now 31 years old and praise the Lord I am just a miracle each day. I am doing rehab twice a week and have minimal amount of doctor visits and tests. We are just waiting to see if I will get into the transplant program. I believe that I am healed so the lung transplant is plan B.

Thank you for all the cards, lovely gifts and presents, it is overwhelming. Pray for my family so that we all have the strength to go through this journey together. Any support would be awesome.

Free

Thank the Lord I'm free from my tubage! I just praise God out loud all the way to the car! Thank you for all your prayers and support!  Next Thursday and Friday I have an exam... more test. I thought I was out of college.

Tubes & more tubes

This tube is in my nose & down my throat and I have to wear it for 24 hours and that really sucks.  The technician is calculating my esophageal patterns or something like that.  I gauged so much! I will get it off tomorrow at 1:00.  I feel like an experiment. This is really fun to have all these test done, poked and prodded, stabbed with needles a great number of times, I'm a large in cushion.

On the bright side I'm at home & I survived the artic weather we are having at 18 degrees by dressing like a Hindu polar bear: lots of scarves  & a vest with a hood and a warm jacket.   I'm all dressed in black, Maybe a black polar bear. LOL. Life is sure an adventure with me.

Unfortunately, I have to go outside to Seattle, quite frequency, and my tests to have for the UW transplant evaluations. These tests are really expensive and I’m plum worn out afterwards. I have Medicare first of the year, but until then I really, really need some help my MAKE A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION
